"Kodak Moment" At Porirua!

Kodak Moment... A rare, one time, moment that is captured by a picture, or should have been captured by a picture.
"Aww!.. They look soo happy sitting there by the lake! That's definetly a kodak moment!"  - Urban Dictionary

Porirua is a city in the Wellington Region of New Zealand, immediately north of the city of Wellington, with their central business districts 20 km apart.  The name "Porirua" is of Māori origin. It is possibly a variant of "Pari-rua" ("two tides"), a reference to the two arms of the Porirua Harbour.  - Wikipedia

Memory... Canon EOS D2000 in the Rain!

The Canon EOS D2000 (a Canon branded Kodak DCS 520) is a 2-megapixel digital single-lens reflex camera developed by Kodak on a Canon EOS-1N body. It was released in March 1998.

It features a CCD sensor and can shoot at 3.5 frames per second.

Many enthusiasts regard the D2000 as Canon's first truly usable Digital SLR. It was released in tandem with the Canon D6000 (a rebranded Kodak DCS 560), a 6-megapixel model. -Wikipedia

Micro 4/3 Come Of Age!!

Coming of age is a young person's transition from childhood to adulthood.

The Micro Four Thirds system (MFT) is a standard created by Olympus and Panasonic, and announced on August 5, 2008, for mirrorless interchangeable lens digital cameras and camcorders design and development. However, unlike the preceding Four Thirds System, it is not an open standard.

MFT shares the original image sensor size and specification with the Four Thirds system, designed for DSLRs.

Unlike Four Thirds, the MFT system design specification does not provide space for a mirror box and a pentaprism, allowing smaller bodies to be designed, and a shorter flange focal distance and hence smaller lenses to be designed.

Virtually any lens can be used on MFT camera bodies using the proper adapter. For instance, Four Third lenses can be used with auto focus using the adapters designed by Olympus and Panasonic.      - Wikipedia

Is Nokia 808 PureView the next Disruptive Innovation?

Way back in 2009 I wrote about my experience in using a Bronica 120 camera, in "A Blast From The Past" I mention Christian Sandström; a young PhD in innovation management from Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden.

After reading "The Rise of Digital Imaging and the Fall of the old Camera Industry" in Luminous-Landscape, I wrote to young Sandström...

"I am absolutely riveted  to my seat reading your recent article in The Luminous Landscape!

Working as a Picture Editors all this years in various newspaper, I was involved in implementing, pushing and selling digital conversions to Editors and bean counters! I also argued with digital people from Kodak and predicted their downfall :)

I will be writing about Bronica in my blog next week and would like your kind permission to quote part of what you say and may be to embed one or two slides show into my blog.  Looking forward to hear from you.  Kind regards  -  CY  "

The Polarizing Filter

When was the last time you used a polarizing (polarising) filter in your photography?

According to Wikipedia...

A polarizer is an optical filter that passes light of a specific polarization and blocks waves of other polarizations. It can convert a beam of light of undefined or mixed polarization into a beam with well-defined polarization. The common types of polarizers are linear polarizers and circular polarizers. Polarizers are used in many optical techniques and instruments, and polarizing filters find applications in photography and liquid crystal display technology.
